Digging Dog Nursery perennials

Campanula lactiflora
‘Pouffe’
at Digging Dog

Campanula

Bellflower

The definitive bellflower, Campanulas melt your heart as they ring in the summer. The genus includes nearly 300 species, from dainty miniatures to stalwart uprights; we can’t resist using them in almost every garden design. Campanulas prefer filtered sun inland, full sun on the coast.

Campanula lactiflora ‘Pouffe’ full sun

You can’t see the foliage for the flowers in this puff of light lavender-blue. Its lovely, sizable blooms and leafy compact mounding character caught Alan Bloom’s discerning eye back in 1937 when he selected it from a group of Campanula ‘Prichard’s Variety’ seedlings. Foliar contrast and a colorful combination are achieved when ‘Pouffe’ is planted next to Euphorbia ‘Dean’s Hybrid’.

Blooms July–September.

Size: 18" high x 18" wide; hardy to zone 4.
