Oenothera macrocarpa subsp. incana ‘Silver Blade’ at Digging Dog
Evening Primrose
A lover of sunny sites, this large genus produces cup shaped, papery, long blooming flowers. Most Oenotheras are indigenous to North America, and are easily grown in well drained soil, even if it’s dry and lean. Oenothera macrocarpa subsp. incana ‘Silver Blade’
With a tenacious spirit and soothing colors, this drought tolerant Plant Select perennial has a lot to offer. Eye catching narrow and wavy, soft silver-blue leaves cushion huge, delicate-petaled lemon-yellow flowers from spring ‘till frost. A Great Plains native introduced by James Locklear, low growing ‘Silver Blade’ is easy to maintain, needs good drainage, doesn’t mind poor soil and looks exceptional alongside Kniphofia ‘Apricot Souffle’ in a dry locale.
Blooms May–September. Size: 6"–10" high x 15"–18" wide; hardy to zone 4. Oenothera macrocarpa subsp. incana Silver Blade (P-1531) Each $6.50
