Agastache x ‘Ava’ at Digging Dog
Lovers of heat, these tough and drought resistant Mint family relatives guarantee terminal spikes adorned with brightly colored, tubular flowers just about all summer long. Agastaches are easily grown in well drained soils, and will bloom more profusely, over an even longer period of time, if the flowering stems are cut back in midseason. Agastache x ‘Ava’
For her large, one foot tall, rosy spikes, her colorful calyxes that remain showy up until frost and sweetly fragrant foliage, this Agastache cana and Agastache barberi High Country Gardens’ selection is deemed their finest Hyssop introduction. The mint perfumed leaves send up good-sized Salvia-like racemes spangled with whorls of long lasting, richly hued raspberry red calyxes and dark rosy pink tubular flowers, which are ideal in dried arrangements. A winning progeny of two southwestern denizens, ‘Ava’ takes two or three growing seasons to fully mature.
Blooms July – October. Size: 4'–5' high x 2' wide; hardy to zone 5. AVAILABLE MAY 2012 Agastache x ‘Ava’ (P-1616) Each $7.00
