Pink flowered Japanese Wisteria

Wisteria

Wisteria floribunda ‘Hon-beni’ full sun  partial shade

Gracefully cascading in long lazy racemes, its “riotous loveliness” as described by British garden writer Reginald Farrer, flaunts lightly perfumed, deep lavender-pink pealike flowers, which soften to a paler pink. The uniquely colored, 1-½ ft. slender racemes unfurl from the base up, emerging concurrently with shiny bronze-suffused new growth. Defined by 15 to 19 oval-shaped, fresh green leaflets, the large and airy pinnate deciduous foliage cloaks a slew of versatile, clockwise twining stems that over time can be trained into a woody vine for a wall or hefty pergola, a large shrub or a semiweeping, mutistemmed tree.

Opulent, vigorous and highly prized, ‘Hon-beni’ doesn't fuss about soil fertility, relishes good drainage and needs late winter and summer prunings to maintain her shapely frame. Large Band.

Blooms May.

Size: 20'–30' high x 0" & spreading; hardy to zone 5.

Customer Comment:

“The clematis I ordered was especially impressive--nicely staked, sporting two new shoots.  The roots of all the plants were very well developed and I'm looking forward to enjoying all of them this season and many more to come.”
