A member of the Snapdragon family, Phygelius grow in well drained garden soil, and are evergreen in milder climates. Handsome, glossy, deep green foliage adorns rich maroon stems, and the stunning Penstemon-like flowers range from pale yellow to vibrant red. Phygelius x rectus ‘African Queen’ 
The first hybrid in this remarkable series, ‘African Queen’ displays regal splendor befitting its name, bearing exquisite reddish orange flowers with lemon-yellow throats. Beside Geranium ‘Phillipe Vapelle’, this selection provides a riot of color and contrast as exquisite, yellow-throated reddish orange flowers appear by the hundreds all summer long.
