Echinops bannaticus ‘Blue Glow’ at Digging Dog
Globe Thistle
Bees and butterflies adore Echinops. They are so easy to care for that you will too. Equally stunning in the garden or as a fresh or dried cut flower, their perfectly round blooms and statuesque profile bring intriguing definition to surrounding softer forms. Thriving in well drained soil, even if it is poor or sandy, the Globe Thistle is an undemanding perennial well worth making room for. Echinops bannaticus ‘Blue Glow’
Intensely blue, the surreal-looking globes of this Echinops perch on stalks lined with elegant, jagged-edged gray-green foliage. Backlit by the late afternoon sun and planted en masse, ‘Blue Glow’s flowers seem to float amidst spiky Muhlenbergia rigens and the dark domes of Angelica gigas.
Blooms July–early September. Size: 4' high x 18" wide; hardy to zone 4. Echinops bannaticus ‘Blue Glow’ (p-0936) Each $7.00
